Advanced Planning Setup
This chapter describes the setup which needs to be done before you are able to make use of the advanced planning functionality of SmartTrade.
Item Vendor
This tabel can be entered both from the Item and Vendor record.
Within the item vendor table at least one vendor needs to be setup to buy the product from. When the product can be bought from multiple vendors, you need to setup a record per vendor in this table.
You are able to set all kinds of date formulas for:
- Order handling time
- Manufacturing time
- Transport time to exit point
(from factory to harbor/airport)
This calculates a Total time to transport. With this you can calculate the Lead Time Calculation by using the function Suggest Lead Time.
Item
On the item record itself following fields need to be setup:
- Vendor No.
- Lead Time Calculation
(When empty the lead time needs to be setup on the vendor record)
SmartTrade Transport Method
This SmartTrade table can be entered from the vendor record under the SmartTrade menu items and is use to setup transport routes for this vendor. Per record following are morst important to setup:
- Transport Method (sea, air)
- Exit Point
- Entry Point
- Transport Time
- Cost Template
With this the system is able to calculated different scenario's for your demand including transport time calculation and cost.
Additional settings which can be used:
- Shipment Method (Incoterm)
- Shipping Agent Code
- Shipping Agent Service
SmartTrade Cost Template
To be able to include the costs for each scenario you want to calculate, you need to setup Cost Templates in order to define which costs are involved for transport by Air, over Sea of by Train.

Transport Method
On the transport method records you need to define how the transport prices are calculated. Following options are available:
- Transport Route
This requires to setup Transport Route prices per used combination of Exit and Entry point. - Shipping Cost
This requires to setup the SmartTrade Shipping Cost table

SmartTrade Order Type
To Calculate and Plan based on Blanket Order- and Demand planning at least one SmartTrade Order Type needs to be created and marked with the field 'Create Blanket Order' true.
